The Royal St.Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) has taken steps to ensure the newly constructed Argyle International Airport is equipped for any emergency that may arise once operational. On 2nd March, 2016, the opening ceremony was held for a group of firefighters from the RSVGPF to commence training in the specialised field of Airport Firefighting.
Although regular Firefighters recieve training in aircraft fires, they do not receive the same level of training as airport firefighters; therefore, it is imperative that specialised training be given to the personnel that would be attached to the ARFF at the new Argyle International Airport.
The training session is being facilitated by Mr. Walter Scott of Cincinnati Ohio, a renowned trainer in the field of firefighting for over 20 years. At the opening ceremony, Mr. Scott indicated that this training period will be one that is very comprehensive and intense.
The state of the art ARFF Station boasts 1600 sq. ft of space, including gym facilities and sleeping quarters among other things.
